The Need

1.1 billion
25,000
240 million
2.8 million

These numbers all represent the number of deaths in a certain social issue last year.  But the bottom line is millions of people suffer and die each year from social justice and humanitarian issues in developing countries around the world.  Every day thousands of people – real people with faces and names and lives that deserved to be lived – die from things that are preventable, treatable, and foundational.  HIV/AIDS, malaria, extreme poverty, unclean water, starvation – it is obvious to say there are problems in the world.

But these are not only problems, these are needs.  These things cannot simply be issues, but we must view them as needs.   I don’t want these statistics to just be informational.  Everything needs to point back to action.  It is so much more than just problems or issues – these are needs that are affecting people.  There are needs in the world because people are suffering and dying.  So many people do not have the opportunities for life that they should have.

There are needs… therefore, there is a need – for action.

The Issues

What are the issues that are causing the needs around the world?  What are the social justice and humanitarian issues that Because International is trying to improve?  What needs are there in the world that need solving?

Here are the big issues in which humanitarian aid must improve, and in which Because International will seek to find innovative solutions:

Shoes and Clothing
Starvation
Unclean Water
HIV/AIDS
Malaria
Personal Hygiene
and unfortunately so many more…

The Gap

There are many good people and organizations doing good work to fight against these social and humanitarian issues.  Yet there is a gap between what needs to be done and what is actually being done.  There is a gap between what we need to do and what we are doing.  There is a gap between health and opportunity and death and suffering.

There is a gap.  It is made manifest in the numbers.  Even though we have a wealth of resources to solve these problems, people are still dying by the thousands and millions.  That fact shows that there is a gap. We could list every problem and show the specific gaps in each issue.  And as the days and years go on, we will research and reveal these gaps together.  But for now we all need to realize this immediate truth: there is a gap that needs to be closed.

Because International is trying to close that gap through many different forms of innovation.

And with your help.
